Easter Gifts Part Four: All the Pretty Things

Easter Bonnet
We don’t do lots of Easter gifts, as it’s really not about the gifts…but I do rather love the pale colours and PRETTIES that are around at this time of year! Our backyard hens are very loved, so chook gifts will always be my favourite, and I also can’t resist a bunny with floppy ears and a bilby or four – especially these Biome ones (Barefoot brand) which we have in the library at work with a little explanation about where and how they were made. Barefoot Sri Lanka opposes exploitive practices. Each Artisan who works for Barefoot, earns a real wage enabling them to support their families with self-respect and dignity.

This year, ChickPea and PudStar are getting a gift or two each, from some of my favourite online stores (not sponsored) including Oh My Giddy Aunt, Biome, Bed, Bath and Table and Nightie Night Lane, and of course some new books to add to our collection of Easter titles. The books below are all the Easter books which I am loving this year. The title and/or cover takes you to Australian owned and operated online bookstore Booktopia. If you live in the US or would prefer to use Amazon click here. If you live in the UK or would prefer to use Book Depository click here.

Easter is a time of new life, and in Brisbane anyway, it’s now cool enough to actually walk outside and do a bit of gardening! The Easter holidays are always a time when we get stuck into the garden here, although Cyclone Debbie did that for us last weekend #sigh. These card and seed packs are Australian so perfect for our gardening conditions. Click for more info and purchase.

These vintage tins are perfect for little non chocolate gifts on an Easter Hunt, and I’ve ordered them for exactly this. With a dentist and several sugar-free people in the extended family, our hunt is definitely not all chocolate!

Both the girls got Jellycat bunnies last year from Lime Tree Kids and they are the most divine floppy bunnies – so darned soft. So good for me to snuggle while we read books at night. Love them!

The silver bilby charm from Oh My Giddy Aunt will be from the fairies (via the fairy door…shhhhhh) and they can add them their charm bracelets, which you can read more about here.

The lovely Nikki at Oh My Giddy Aunt has kindly offered all Children’s Books Daily readers a special offer of a free Lucky Dip sterling silver charm with any order, using childrensbooksdaily as the promo code at checkout. Nikki is just a delight to purchase from, her service is super fast and everything is beautifully packaged. Wins all round.

And then the books…ALWAYS the books! Click on cover images of books to read more. Free shipping code is ‘NOURISH’.

‘Bilby Secrets’  and ‘Bilby Moon’ are also bilby books which can be read year round. ‘Bilby Secrets’ is part of the Nature Storybooks series which I absolutely love  and I wish I’d come up with the idea – a genius combination of narrative and non-fiction writing.

A further ‘Easter but not Easter’ book is ‘Squish Rabbit’ and ‘Brave Squish Rabbit’ by Katherine Battersby. You can read my full review here. UQP have recently released ‘Squish Rabbit’ as a board book which you can purchase here, now they just need to release a toy – pretty please?squish-rabbit

For readers age five – ten years I would highly recommend ‘Ruby Red Shoes’ and you can read my full review here. I’m guessing most of you already have this exquisite series. Author/illustrator Kate Knapp lives locally and I’ve been so fortunate to get to know the talent behind this series and the Twigseeds brand. You can read more about Kate here.

I am BESOTTED with these small designer editions of the books and trying to justify purchasing them for my coffee table. The are a collection of five small format books designed by iconic British fashion designers to celebration the 150th anniversary of Beatrix Potter.

Lime Tree Kids have some super cute tins – we have the little egg shaped one pictured on their site.

I also have a small obsession with Bed, Bath and Table Easter ‘stuff’ (they have 25% off Easter stuff HERE!). Every year I tell myself that I will not purchase more, and every year I purchase more. I seem unable to resist the whites, greys and pastel perfection of their bunnies, bilbies and homewares. It’s something about all those birds nests, all the pastels and whites – so very, very calming! Anyone else feel the same?
