Cheaper than Therapy: ‘1000 Dot-to-Dot Books’

I’ve been a fan of the Thomas Pavitte’s ‘1000 Dot-to-Dot’ books for some time now. They are the perfect gift for anyone – young and old alike! Especially perfect for those who need to take a break from the chaos of life. When you are connecting 1000 dots to make an iconic landmark or portrait there is simply no room in one’s head to think about anything else…it’s like meditation and it is also so much cheaper than therapy!

These books are aimed at adults and older children, though my six year old has also had a good go at a few…gets bored at about 124 dots. I’m going to frame some of the finished dot-to-dots for the library, when they are finished they really are quite spectacular. The book is A3 sized and each of the twenty dot-to-dots in each book can be separated from the book easily with perforations.

The introduction also states: It’s also a great way of teaching kids about the principles of drawing. Through the process of joining up the dots, they will see how the lines build up to create areas of tone and give the images a sense of depth – much more sophisticated than the usual one-dimensional dot-to-dot drawing.
