Toilet Training Books
I spoke some time ago about books for toilet training as I’m a big fan of introducing new experiences with books – librarian alert! We’ve used books to introduce going to the dentist, starting school, gaining a new sibling and swimming lessons…so why not toilet training?
My Top Ten Toilet Training books are here but today I’m sharing a kit which has a toilet training book for the child, a guide for parents, a rewards chart and stickers.
‘Ready to Go! Toilet Time for Boys’ and ‘Ready to Go! Toilet Time for Girls’ are great little kits and the child book is one of ChickPea’s favourite books at the moment, which I find very amusing. We read it to her in the weeks leading up to ‘operation slam out the toilet training’ and by the time we started she knew all about what should be happening. The illustrations show the rewards chart that comes in the kit and ChickPea particularly liked that she had something that was pictured in the book. I like that the language is Australian (toilet rather than potty for an actual toilet!) and that the story is both amusing and positive – it’s really quite a lovely little book!
The parent guide is written by child psychologist Dr Jane Hall and explains the facts about toilet training, lists what to do before you begin and outlines six steps for toilet training. There are some trouble shooting tips and a list of do’s and don’ts to keep in mind.
If you are just about to start the process of toilet training this is $10.95 well spent and may the force be with you!
The title and cover of each book takes you to the Australian based online bookstore Booktopia. If you live in the US or would prefer to use Amazon click here. If you live in the UK or would prefer to use Book Depository click here.
