Gifts for Literature Lovers: Part One

and a FAB giveaway from Oh My Giddy Aun!

Judging by the amount of hits my ‘gift’ posts are getting (after three years of blogging I’ve worked out how to get into Google analytics! Go ME!)…many of you are starting to look at Christmas gift ideas. If you could just do my Christmas shopping for me at the same time that would be mighty fine – I’ll send you the list of people I need to buy for.

Last year I really did outdo myself with gifts for the librarians and lovers of literature in my life (see here) and this year I’m on the lookout for more literary themed gifts.  Because I am a sharing and caring person and I love looking at pretty things online, I am going to share my literary themed gifts with you over the next month or so. So let us begin!

Over the years Dan has purchased me a few items from ‘Oh My Giddy Aunt’ and possibly my favourite piece has been a ring with the Da Vinci quote, ‘There shall be wings!’. I wear it all the time. I adore these rings and there is a number of quotes you can choose from and they can be done as pendants and cuffs…I would like to add a few more to my collection because, seriously, there is nothing better than wearing words you love. Next on my list are the following quotes from the range; There is no one alive who is Youer than You – Dr Seuss; This above all – to thine own self be true – Shakespeare;  Be the change You want to see in the world – Mahatma Gandhi; Not all those who wander are lost – JRR Tolkien and Life is either a daring adventure or nothing – Helen Keller.

Nikki from Oh My Giddy Aunt has a fabulous array of literary themed gifts (and other gorgeous delights). I’ve been a long time lover of all things Oh My Giddy Aunt and have her Funki Fungi stools in my library (see here), her fairies in Pud’s fairy garden (see here) and Pud has a tooth fairy bracelet on the go (see here). The most special thing my family have purchased from her is the ‘story bracelets’ we have started for my nieces to remember their daddy by. More on that another day.

This year I’m thinking I need a large sterling silver Forever Written Book which can be worn as a necklace or put on a key ring or as a tassel bookmark.

Competition Closed! Thank you to all those who entered and shared the literary love! There were over 400 entries! Michelle Dennis was lucky enough to win one of these books. Congrats Michelle!

Definitely would have to be a Roald Dahl quote for me: A little magic can take you a long way.

In keeping with the popular Dr Seuss theme, one that comes to mind quite often is ‘a person’s a person, no matter how small’.

This would be for my daughter because “Guess How Much I Love You” was/still is her favourite book and she made me read it over and over and over to her. When she was little. It’s now our favourite thing to say to each other.

If I were lucky enough to win this silver book, I’d have the title of my children’s book, Wolfbaene, engraved. Dedicated to my brother, who passed away 10/10/2010 and will always be my Peter Pan
