Literary + Lovely Christmas Gift Ideas
The gift ideas in this post are a mash up of all the things I love and I think you will also love. They are not sponsored ideas, though some are affiliate links (which cost the buyer nothing) which support the running costs of the blog. Many of the businesses linked are small businesses and lady start-ups and with all my gift suggestions I try to ensure they are ethical.
These ideas are for colleagues, friends, family and and teachers. Good teachers can set the path for your child’s future; they inspire, empower and guide our children alongside parents and they deserve an utterly genuine ‘THANK YOU’ for what they do. This thanks does not need to be expensive, it just needs to be heartfelt. Teaching is exhausting and rewarding in equal measure and by the end of the school year most teachers barely crawl to the finish line, then they promptly get sick, recover and then spend much of their holidays planning for the following year.
Magazine subscriptions are one of my favourite gifts to receive – like next level favourite. It’s the gift that gives every month after month and there is nothing nicer than sitting and reading a magazine with a cup of tea for five minutes or so and though I subscribe to some magazines online, it is just NOT the same as a paper copy in the mail each month…you cannot post-it note an online copy. I personally love Breathe, ‘Frankie’, ‘Flow’, ‘Womankind’, ‘Lunch Lady’, ‘Smith Journal’, ‘Organic Gardener’ and ‘Mindfood’.
Treasured Keepsakes from Oh My Giddy Aunt
If you have been following me for a while you will know that I have a thing for the keepsake gifts from Oh My Giddy Aunt
Nikki’s attention to detail and service is like nothing I’ve ever experienced shopping online. I’ve purchased charm bracelets for the girls, charm bracelets as a combined gift for colleagues (a charm unique to each person), charm necklaces, engraved silver whistles, jewellery boxes and silver book buckles. The ‘queen bee’ ring below is one of my favourite pieces and I wear it everyday. Enter code CBD on any Oh My Giddy Aunt purchase to receive a free silver charm.
Goodies from Gorman
I have a few of these water resistant cotton canvas planters and they are super duper nicer than plastic pots. I really love the soft look of fabric with the green of the plants…unless the plants die…as happens! I am personally lusting after one or all of the Gorman lunch bags and the picnic rug and canvas containers are so darned fabulous. I love that we can now wear Gorman and have it in our homes! My jelly pillowcases from Gorman are my favs. You can shop Gorman via this link.
Bookish bits from Book Geek
I often buy gifts for my library staff at Book Geek and it would be fair to say that I have a few of their products myself- I’m wearing the Pride and Prejudice cuff as I type and the book page art is dotted around my house. Their service is super fast and reliable – and a #ladystartup. Use the code CBD for free shipping.
Statement jewellery from Ruby Olive
Ruby Olive jewellery has a colour, shape and pattern for everyone and I am rarely without one of the Ruby Olive necklaces these days – I love the feel of the hand-poured resin and the incredibly bold colours. The colours and the quality of Ruby Olive pieces are delicious, affordable and just plain fun.
Reusable & sustainable choices from Biome
KeepCups are always a welcome gift as, for most of us, caffeine is a high priority. While I am not a fan of buying a $2 mug for teachers, I am a fan of buying them a KeepCup to keep their coffee warm, because find me a teacher that can ever sit down for an entire cup of life-giving caffeine.
Biome also has a great range of fair trade and sustainable gifts including gorgeous Australian Christmas decorations and I love, love, love the banksia tealights – I have more than a few. The Biome range of beauty and DIY products is exceptional quality and simply and beautifully packaged, I very much recommend them.
Go forth and ‘add to cart’!
