‘Raising Readers’ Cover Reveal
Oh goodness it starts to feel real when you have a cover! My book, ‘Raising Readers: How to nurture a child’s love of books’ is due in stores in April 2019 and is published by University of Qld Press. I feel in very safe hands with the team at UQP and we’re now in the final (ish?!) stages of editing. My book is aimed at parents and educators and I’m so very chuffed with how it is coming along!
And so I present you…MY book cover with MY name on it!
An essential and practical resource for parents and educators, ‘Raising Readers’ contains everything you need to know about childhood literacy, written by award-winning teacher librarian Megan Daley.
Some kids refuse to read, others won’t stop – not even at the dinner table! Either way, many parents question the best way to support their child’s literacy journey. When can you start reading to your child? How do you find that special book to inspire a reluctant reader? How can you tell if a book is age appropriate? What can you do to keep your tween reading into their adolescent years?
Award-winning teacher librarian Megan Daley has the answers to all these questions and more. She unpacks her fifteen years of experience into this personable and accessible guide, enhanced with up-to-date research and first-hand accounts from well-known Australian children’s authors. It also contains practical tips, such as suggested reading lists and instructions on how to run book-themed activities.
‘Raising Readers‘ is a must-have guide for parents and educators to help the children in their lives fall in love with books.
You can pre-order ‘Raising Readers’ now from Booktopia or you can wait until it’s out! I’ll no doubt be doing lots more speaking gigs around the place so I may even meet some of you for the very first time! Bookings for speaking engagements at schools, kindergartens, childcare centres and libraries are now being taken for 2019 and you can read more about how to book me here.
Megan, this is beyond exciting! Are we allowed to start promoting this through Story Box?
Love your work lady!
Just pre-ordered my copy, can’t wait to read it!
A much-needed resource! I can’t think of a more qualified book buff to write about this and can’t wait to see it. Thank you, Megan for nurturing the bookbuzz between parents, educators and children.
