Today I’m sharing what will be (at Christmas!) the latest addition to ChickPea’s bedroom; a reading tent with Willow fabric flags.
PudStar and I had been pondering what to do with the space that was left when we removed ChickPeas no longer needed change-table. Sadly we may have been a bit hopeful about the debacle that is toilet training, but anyway…the change-table is gone!
PudStar decided that the best thing for the room would be a reading tent as she has a much loved reading corner in her room which you can see here and we had a ‘Christmas reading tent’ on our front deck last Christmas which she loved.
I settled on this tent as I wanted one with a window (for spying on ChickPea AKA The Destroyer) and one with customised flags which could be made from one of her Willow pattern pillowcases.
It arrived yesterday (a brown paper package tied up with string…these are a few of my favourite things!) and PudStar and I are supremely happy with it. Even though it is a Christmas present, PudStar and I were EXCITED and ChickPea was out, so we had to set it up for a trial. PudStar arranged the cushions, updated the books in ChickPea’s book basket and donated her fleecy for the floor of the tent. Sad really that we then had to pack it all away!
I love what my good friend Lyndal wrote on ChickPea’s birth card; Dear ChickPea, May you sprout and flourish. Lyndal’. One of the many book baskets in CP’s room has this message written on it so we used that one.
Thanks Noacakes for great service and a gorgeous tent! You can find Noacakes on Etsy and Facebook.
Opposite the tent is ChickPea’s shelves for collections of small things as Pud calls them. They are kerbside collection drawers which I banged onto the wall while Dan was out (he would have wanted a level tool thingo involved and all manner of other unnecessary tools). I love the blue and white knobs I found at Paddington Hardware…ChickPea’s room is all about blue and white and ‘Little Blue’…until she has an opinion about it!
I’ve been thinking about a reading tents as a present this year too – what a lovely space you’ve created for your little one 🙂
LOVE the drawers on the wall and the vintage handles, too!

This is such a beautiful idea – it’s so nice and full of light, so inviting xoxox
Aww shucks thanks Vanisha! Yep we love it…love a little reading area!
Love this space! I’m stashing this idea for when we put together a playroom for the kids later this year!
