School Holiday Activity Books
School Holiday Activity Books
School holidays are just around the corner.I don’t know about your children, but PudStar is exhausted and cranky by this time of the term and although she would never admit it…she needs some down time.
I’m all for children inventing their own fun, but I also always get a new activity book for the holidays for when ChickPea has her afternoon sleep and PudStar needs some quiet time (or so I tell her and hope for the best!). The books below are some we’ve had recently and really enjoyed. Click on the covers to purchase and do note that these are all activity books, so not reusuable as such.
The books below are not colouring books, or not just colouring books. Some are colour by numbers, some are maze books and some are Doodle books – which I just think are the best thing since sliced cheese – a bit of colouring + a bit of doodling = hours of entertainment! These books don’t feel like a school text book but are still encouraging some number and word work over the holidays! I’ll write early next week about some art and craft books crammed full of holiday projects. There is a range of books here to suit children from four to thirteen. ‘Terry Denton’s Bumper Book of Holiday Stuff to Do’ is particularly good for children aged 7-13 and in Terry Denton style, it’s very funny. Click on the cover to see a description and recommended age.
I really love books by the French author Herve Tullet. Below is his version of a Doodle book and a YouTube clip about it – oh the accent!
