Thanks to Twentieth Century Studios, I have *five* double movie passes + books of the classic tale, ‘The Call of the Wild’. To enter, just comment here on or Instagram, Facebook or Twitter with who you’d love to take along!

It’s been SO MANY YEARS since I read the classic book by Jack London (below) but I still vividly remember the beauty of the story – I am a sucker for a dog story.

The movie of ‘The Call of the Wild’ is in cinemas on Feb 20 and is based on the legendary novel of man and dog. Harrison Ford stars in this exciting and heart-warming big-screen adventure for the whole family.

Adapted from the beloved literary classic, the movie vividly brings to the screen the story of Buck, a big-hearted dog whose blissful domestic life is turned upside down when he is suddenly uprooted from his California home and transplanted to the exotic wilds of the Alaskan Yukon during the Gold Rush of the 1890s. As the newest rookie on a mail delivery dog sled team–and later its leader–Buck experiences the adventure of a lifetime, ultimately finding his true place in the world and becoming his own master.

Thanks Megan. I have just placed a copy of ‘The motion of reading Call of the Wild’ on my “Selection Table”, ready for next week, for students to choose books to be included in our library. I was surprised to see that this book is being released as a movie. I will include this in my promotion of reading, in this case, of the classics.

It’s the year of catching up on the classics inspired by my holiday reading of Geraldine McCaughrean’s brilliant retelling of Homer’s Odyssey. Now being enjoyed with my Stage 3 students. Call of the Wild is another of the classics on my list. This would be great encouragement. And yet another text for us to devour.

I love how books can get some reluctant kids interested and excited in reading. I hope this film brings a whole new groups of kids to this fabulous story
